The adjacent video shows a proposed exhibit layout for the Wallace Library Robert Panara exhibit planned for the summer of 2025. The proposed exhibit will engage visitors in Robert Panara’s contributions as a Deaf poet, professor, and advocate by using layers of translucent fabric to symbolize how he bridged the Deaf and hearing communities. The exhibit will utilize translucent printed fabric as a guiding element, symbolizing layers of communication, interpretation, and understanding. Each fabric layer will be printed with elements of Panara’s work and passions, offering visitors a dynamic experience. The exhibit space will remain a functional circulation path for library visitors while inviting them to sit and enjoy Panara’s work and the videos displayed in the exhibit. The arrangement of curtains and display cases will guide circulation through the exhibit, ensuring a fluid yet engaging experience. Overhead, suspended fabric elements will continue the bridge symbolism while introducing volume. The exhibit and design ultimately reflect Panara’s enduring impact.
